RPG

RPG, or Role-Playing Game, is a genre of games in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Participants take on the personas of these characters and engage in collaborative storytelling, often guided by a set of rules or mechanics. RPGs can be played in various formats, including tabletop games, video games, and live-action role-playing (LARP).

In tabletop RPGs, players typically use dice or other randomization tools to determine outcomes of actions and events, while a Game Master (GM) or Dungeon Master (DM) facilitates the game’s narrative and oversees the game’s rules. Video game RPGs often incorporate complex narratives, character development, and decision-making elements, allowing players to explore immersive worlds and interact with non-player characters (NPCs).

Character progression is a hallmark of RPGs, with players usually developing their characters’ abilities, skills, and attributes over time. This genre encourages creativity, strategic thinking, and cooperative teamwork, as players navigate challenges and quests together, all while crafting unique stories. RPGs can explore diverse themes, from fantasy and science fiction to historical settings and modern scenarios, appealing to a wide range of interests and imaginations.
