Lung Infection

A lung infection, also known as pneumonia or pulmonary infection, is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs. The air sacs may fill with fluid or pus, causing symptoms such as cough, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing. Lung infections can be caused by various pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Common types include pneumonia, bronchitis, and tuberculosis. Treatment depends on the cause and severity of the infection and may involve antibiotics for bacterial infections, antiviral medications for viral infections, and supportive care. Lung infections can range from mild to life-threatening and may affect individuals of all ages, though they are particularly serious in infants, elderly individuals, and those with underlying health conditions.
