Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily using the feet, although players can also use their heads and torsos to control the ball. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The most prestigious tournament in the sport is the FIFA World Cup, held every four years, which showcases national teams from around the world. Soccer is known for its widespread global popularity, having millions of players and fans, and is recognized for its ability to bring people together across diverse cultures and backgrounds. The sport emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill, making it a dynamic and engaging activity enjoyed by people of all ages.
