Football

Football is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players each, typically on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score by advancing a spherical ball into the opponent’s goal, primarily using feet, although players can use other parts of their body except for their hands and arms, which are only permitted for goalkeepers within their penalty area. The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is known by different names in various parts of the world; in the United States and Canada, it is referred to as soccer to distinguish it from gridiron football. The sport is the most popular in the world, with millions of fans and players across the globe, and it culminates in major competitions such as the FIFA World Cup and continental championships. Football promotes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, and it is a significant cultural phenomenon in many countries. It is played at various levels, from grassroots community leagues to professional leagues and international tournaments.
